Off-site modular construction using pre-cast concrete panels reduces programme time
Initially named Capital Court, PJCE was appointed to design the precast concrete system for three residential towers of between 9 and 14-storeys, providing 253 new homes adjacent to the new Brentford Community Stadium. The system comprises a series of concrete panels forming load-bearing walls, and floor slabs. External walls consist of insulated pre-cast sandwich panels which are delivered complete with brick façade, aluminium frames and glazing.
The superstructure is a combination of a traditional reinforced concrete frame up to level 2 with a precast system above. This design takes advantage of the repetitive nature of the floor layouts and, with no need for scaffolding, the project can be completed faster and more efficiently. The pre-cast elements were completed to an average turnaround of 6 days per level.
