Sympathetic redevelopment of Grade II listed mansion block in Belgravia
PJCE supplied designs for the superstructure using a reinforced concrete frame, with a lightweight steel construction for the upper floors within the roof space, creating two additional storeys. Below ground, a new concrete lined sheet piled basement generates an additional level for ‘puzzle’ car parking. A reinforced concrete raft foundation ensures the proposed high speed train tunnel zone below is not compromised.
Within the retained historic building, careful sequencing and monitoring of the installation of steel frames allows for the removal of existing walls, slabs and stairs to provide space for a basement gym and reinforced concrete formed swimming pool at low level.
